Adoptions Pending / Test Drives
The adoptions pending/test drive page is for our dogs who are currently on a trial run with a potential adopter (lengths of test drives vary based on health, age or adopters needing more time to decide). The majority of these dogs will end up adopted; but a few may not be the right fit. This could be for any reason and is mainly not for any type of aggressive behavior or major problem. You can continue to check this page to see if one of your interests have been adopted or you can email us to inquire about any of these dogs.
Albuquerque Boxers - Adoptions Pending
Murray

 |
Murray is a young male, about 1.5 to 2 years old. He is a great looking
boxer with a mellow personality. He gets along great with the foster dogs
although he really isn't interested in playing much. He prefers to cuddle
and hug as much as possible.
He crates very well but also just hangs out while his foster dad is gone.
He is excellent on a leash and pays little attention to other dogs in their
yards.
Murray is currently on a test drive!
|
PD

 |
PD is a very young male (9 months), highly energetic but a terrific companion.
He is getting along just fine with all his foster siblings and even his cat
friend. He is around a lot of young children and will sometimes bounce
around them too much but they are used to foster dogs and helping him adjust.
He goes for a walk every day and is still learning that he needs to ignore other
dogs in their yards, but is slowly figuring it out. He is the older
brother of Lucky and was definitely the more dominant one.
He needs a high energy owner who is willing to work with him but he responds
fast and well. He also is learning to crate too!
PD has been adopted!
|
Maggie
 |
Maggie is a wonderfull little girl who has learned to get along with all her
foster siblings and small children (even when they leave food around).
Maggie has been adopted!
|
Red (in Roswell)

|
Here is Red, an older male; probably 4 years old. We think he might be the
father to PD and Lucky,
Red is currently on a test drive!
|
Lady Jane

 |
This is the 8 month old Lady Jane who is still a puppy but tends to be shy at
first. She is great with other dogs; big and small. She learned how
to use the dog door from Murray when she was with him for about 3 days in
Roswell.
Lady Jane has been adopted!
|
Baxter
 |
Here is Baxter, a high energy young male. Likes to play a lot and has been
around young children!
Baxter is currently on a test drive!
|
Nola

 |
This is Nola, an owner surrender. She just needs some good, consistent
attention and direction. While in my home, she started off somewhat
dominant and turned into the more submissive girl she really wants to be.
She is loving and likes to play a lot...
Nola has been adopted!

Chip

 |
This is Chip!!! This handsome boy has really been through the ringer. Chip comes
from a very abusive past but he is still all smiles and LOVES to be loved. Chip
is doing fantastic with other females (not been tested with males yet) and is
trying to learn how to play. Chip loves to eat and loves to snuggle. This smart
guy learns very fast and responds very quickly to direction. Chip needs lots and
lots of love and needs someone to give him direction as he is not quite sure how
to just be a happy dog but is picking it up fast. Chip would probably be best
with another dog however, I'm sure he would have no problem being an only child.
Chip is super easy going and is going to make someone an AWESOME companion!!!!
We absolutely adore this guy!!! Chip just needs to be neutered and then he is
ready for his new, happy life with the right forever home. Will that be you???
Chip has been adopted!
|
DozerABQ

 |
This is Dozer. He is a 10 month old teen that needs plenty of exercise and play.
He is such a puppy, doesn't much care for his leash and was kept outside. He has
been cared for by a concerned animal control officer and another family in New
Mexico.
He was neutered on October 5th and will be available very soon. He gets along
well with other dogs and lived with a 14 year old female boxer and and a 2 year
old male boxer. He has been introduced to Pancho and everything seems to be ok.
He knows how to sit and is fairly obedient. He does need to learn some manners,
but has been with pre-school age children at his foster home.
Dozer is currently on a test drive!
|
Banjo

 |
This is Banjo. He was named Banjo because he's wound pretty tight just like a
banjo string. He likes to know exactly where you are at all times or he'll run
around the house looking for you.
Since he can't hear, he likes to keep an eye on you. His foster dad spent
2 hours with Banjo at the westside shelter and he honestly had him fooled; it
seemed that he could hear. Needless to say he's deaf, but he doesn't let that
bother him at all. He is very attentive and is always looking at me for
direction. While writing this, Banjo is laying near the computer while Coco and
Pancho are running around the house at 90 miles an hour. He loves to ride in the
car and waits patiently in the morning when his foster dad swims.
He crates well, but does holler for awhile until he settles. He was heart worm
positive when he first came into the rescue and is currently being treated. He
was also treated for some lacerations on his side from unknown origin. If you're
concerned about a deaf dog, we would encourage you to come by PetVet to meet
Banjo. He is a very fun boy to have around the house.
Banjo has been adopted!

June Bug

 |
This is June Bug; she is a little chunky right now but is going on a diet!
She is approximately 2 1/2 years old and was found wandering around loose with
her puppies.
For the most part, she ignores the other dogs as she wants to play with people
instead of hanging out with the pack. But she trained to the crate almost
instantly.
Currently, she is heartworm positive and will be getting treatment and will be
spayed very soon. She is 55 solid pounds but will be less soon.
June Bug is currently on a test drive!
|
Loki

 |
Loki is a 2yo male neutered boxer. He is house broken and gets along
well with other pets (cats, dogs, people). He is currently living with 2
people, 2 cats and another boxer. He likes rawhides, long runs, going to the
dog park, any park with grass, and can be trusted on and off the leash as
long as you - the owner - are on the ball and remind him about keeping in
his "area/yard."
He is extremely adept at removing squeaky makers from toys, but loves toys,
balls, sticks, and anything considered boxer fun. His current project is
removing the strings from a football.
Loki is currently on a test drive!
|
Brandon

 |
And here is Brandon. He is about 3 or so. He seems to be very gentle and loving
and mostly interested in being right with you.
He has lost the hair around his neck from being tied up so tightly. It seems to
be growing back fine. He gets along well with Pearl, but wants to dominate the
boys.
He is also very high energy and needs a home with someone who will exercise him
regularly.
Brandon has been adopted!
|
April

 |
Boxer: high energy, vocal, highly loyal, enjoys being around people.
Boxer moms: high energy, playful, teacher.
April: (Boxer plus boxer mom) times 5. She is extremely high energy,
always on the go, playful with the newest puppy (Kacey) and exceptionally vocal.
This girl was let go from her backyard after being tied up most of her life.
She came here in heat and was nervous around the other dogs and in the house
(she had to be tied to her foster dad for a day so she could go into the
kitchen, bathroom and bedroom). This is one loving boxer but will need to
go to a home that appreciates the ever-lasting boxer energy and will never tire
of hearing her or watching her play!
April is currently on a test drive with Aida and Rafe!
|
Poppy

 |
Poppy is a female brindle who is full of energy. She seems to always be on
the go. She is excellent with other dogs (but it would be best if she were
with a high energy male) and shares toys and food with
absolutely no problems. She likes to play hard and can be vocal when
excited at playtime.
She is not a jumper since instead of going over a sideways ladder, she almost
got stuck trying to go through it - yes, she may not exactly be the sharpest
tool in the shed. But she makes up for it in her sweetness and playful
nature!
Poppy is currently on a test drive with Lisa!
|
Roxy
 |
This is Roxy, a young female who was left outside most of her young life.
She is now learning how to be a family dog and definitely has a stubborn, boxer
streak. But, she is slowly figuring it out and will become a great
addition to her new family.
Roxy passed her test drive and is waiting to be finalized!
|
Sadie

|
This cute girl is named Sadie!
She is about 18 months old and only weighs 31 pounds.
Sadie is currently on a test drive!
|
Peaches
|
This pretty girl is named Peaches. She is being fostered with 2 male boxers and another female without any problems at all. When the other dogs wrestle and play, she sits nicely on the couch and just watches them. She doesn’t jump on people and crates well once you get her in, but she will need a little work on her potty training. She came very underweight so we are focusing on plumping her up and making her stronger. She is a really sweet girl who just wants to be hugged and to follow you around the house!
Adoption pending!
|
Lucy
 |
This is Lucy, she is about 3-1/2 or so. Lucy is a very happy playful girl and is very affectionate and loves to have her belly rubbed. She is one of our smaller girls. She gets along well with her
Chihuahua friend and the Rottweiler pup that is currently living there. She is very good with children and lets the 1 year old do just about anything to her with no objections.
Adoption pending!

Ling Ling
|
Ling Ling has lived with a Chihuahua mix and a Lab at the same time and they all got along fine. They played indoors and out, ran the perimeter of our back yard, played with toys, ate their food at the same time.
Ling Ling lives in a house with a Mom and daughter. She usually barks at strangers at the front door, but settles down after she sees that no one is in any harm.
She likes all people, especially if they pet her and pay attention to her.
Ling Ling has her own chair with a cover on it and a big dog bed.
Ling Ling rides in the back seat with a cover on the bench. She also likes to get in the front passenger seat, but will get in the back upon command.
Ling Ling is very good when she gets her shots. She does not bother other dogs and is very good with the vet.
Ling Ling passed her test drive and is waiting to be finalized!

What's up Gunner? He is between 1 and 1-1/2 years old and a smaller boxer
boy - weighs in at less than 50 pounds. He was only 47 when we got him but he
has been eating better and gaining a little weight. He could use a bit more but
he is beginning to look good. He loves to play and run around and wrestle with
the girls. He has the best wiggle butt I've seen in a while!
He is smart and learns fast. He is getting neutered 9/13/11 and will be healing
for a week or so. He has all his shots and has been microchipped and is ready
for a new home. He does have cherry eye and will be getting it fixed soon.
Gunner is currently on a test drive!
|

Gus is an absolute LOVE! He is kennel trained, house broken, learned to use the
Doggie Door within minutes, great on leash, and is fabulous with my kids and
dogs.
He just doesn't like cats.
He needs Glucosamine and Rimadyl (anti-inflammatory) daily for his knee due to
arthritis from a possible old injury.

She is a smaller boxer about 50 pounds or so and has recently had puppies.
She has been sad because her family didn't come for her, but she is having fun
now with Jimbo & Sweetie at Manny's house. She gets along with all the dogs she
has been introduced to and her little tail goes crazy when she sees the kids.
Princess 1 is currently on a test drive with Susan and family!
|
Carson

 |
This is Carson. This handsome boy is about 60 pounds or so. He is about 2 years
old. He and Lola were running together.
They had a great time playing with kids 7-14 in the yard and were very well
behaved. His markings are very faint brindle stripes on a fawn coat. Staying at
the shelter has seriously dampened their spirits and you would never guess how
happy they can be.
Carson is currently on a test drive with Andrew and Jovanna!
|
Powder

|
This young lady, Powder, is very skinny and fearful. She seems to have some
hearing but not much.
She has beautiful blue eyes, and doesn't like the camera flash at all. She

We are looking for someone to foster her!
Powder is currenty on a test drive!
|
Rocky

 |
This is Rocky, he is about 1-1/2; is a bundle of energy and loves to play and
run around. He is missing a bit of toe on his hind foot.
We were told his mother did it when he was born and she was chewing the birth
sac off of him. He doesn't notice it and it makes no difference to his agility.
He has all his shots and is scheduled to be neutered July 7. He now weighs about
60 pounds or so and has gained some weight; but could use a bit more.
Rocky is currently on a test drive!
|

dainty and small, about 5 years old and barely weighs 50 pounds.
She is sweet and affectionate would like to sit in your lap; well cared for and
cute she even has pink polished toenails. She is doing well for being in her
third place in 3 days. A little uncertain, but willing. She knows sit and give
me a hug and give kisses. She takes treats nicely. She doesn't really know
about crates, but went in fine when I insisted and only fussed for a minute or
two after lights out.
Her former owner says she is female aggressive, but she has not displayed that
behavior here.
If you are interested in adopting Bonnie, please
contact us by
email.
Thank you Lesa for fostering Bonnie!

 |
This baby girl, Lola, is about 1 to 1-1/2 or so. She is about 50-55 pounds, and
lots of energy. She was picked up running around with Carson.

dumped in her neighborhood.

Ace LC

 |
Here is Ace LC. He is a smaller boy with a very wiggley butt! His coat is very
soft and he is a sweetie. No other male dogs though. Dixie, a female foster, was
fine with him. He also seems very young - perhaps not quite a year old.
He has a knot on his head that may be from being bounced around in the womb.
Ace is currently on a test drive with Wendy and Michael!

scars (maybe he slept with the cactus!) He is probably 2 to 3 years old.

Daisey

 |
Hi there, this young lady, Daisey, is somewhere between 1 and 2 years old and is
a surrender. Right now she is about 60 pounds and a bit chunky; but she loves
to go for walks and loves to run and play in the yard with the other boxers, so
she should slim down a bit.
She is not as good at sharing her toys as the others are. She was left with the
parents when the owner went off to college, and they are not prepared to be
responsible for her, so we have her now. She is a lover and just so sweet; she
loves attention and is so happy to meet everyone.
She walks nicely, is learning sit and is almost house trained. She is also
learning about the doggie door to go outside. A big thank you to Manny for
fostering Daisey.
Daisey is currently on a test drive!
|
Dixie

 |
This is Dixie, she was found wandering around a gas
station and brought to the shelter where no one claimed her.
She is a beautiful fawn female, medium sized, and very calm and quiet; we are
guessing about 3 years old. Of course she has only been around her new foster
home for a short time, so maybe she'll look happier when she has been here a
while!
Dixie is currently on a test drive!
|
Jac
|
This newbie is Jac, a male brindle, who has been surrendered because his "kid"
family has left home and they think he would be better off with other kids
and/or another dog.
Jac is currently on a test drive!
|
Starry
 |
This is the other English Bulldog/
Boxer girl she seems a bit younger
than Dreamer, perhaps she is her
daughter. She was even more shy
and uncertain of all the chaos at the
shelter. Both girls are sweet and
calm and easygoing. It would be best
for them if they could stay together
to reassure each other.
Starry is currently on a test drive with Amber!
|
Benny
 |
He is at least 3 and maybe more. He knows sit. He is really smart and needs a thoughtful owner who is going to be able to keep him entertained so he doesn't go getting into trouble.
Gave him a chewy and he was fine when I crated him.
